Resurrection – Happy Easter

Today’s Photo
Have you ever wondered why people who don’t believe still celebrate Christian holidays? Just seems odd to me…I have always wanted to ask them why but this is usually a hot topic for people so I tend to just let that question be…

Anyways – here is a shot that I took at a church in Dayton Ohio – it has significance to area but also to some in my family. I hope that they are all doing well today and all eating way to much 🙂

I hope that you have an awesome Easter and an enjoyable day.

Oh I forgot – on the food topic – I cooked my grandmothers traditional Easter Sunday meal for today – this is always bitter sweet for me as she passed on the traditions and cooking to me and made sure that I know before her last breath that I was responsible for passing them on and that she was well pleased with my cooking – in fact she said that it was better than hers and to anyone that knew her that was saying a lot! I miss her and my grandfather everyday.

Also on the food topic – I follow quite a few people on twitter however I admit that I only check in and read a handful of peoples tweets. One that I saw was this (this will be a paraphrase as I like to keep a little mystery around things) –

“You won’t get fat eating 1 bad meal – so this Easter – GO EAT! There is always tomorrow to go back to your healthy lifestyle :)” Well actually that was not even close….but yeah you get the point 🙂

Rolling Storm

Not been shooting….
So I cant remember the last time that I actually decided to go shoot something interesting for me, I have been shooting things that I have to but not that I want to – huge difference. So maybe I can get back to basics and go looking for some creative juices to flow…

As this storm rolled through I quickly grabbed my camera and took off to try to capture something out of it. I ended up 2 minutes from house (that two minutes was a flat run) and setup to find this dramatic moving of the clouds. I was hoping the storm would slow down and give me more time to setup and shoot but it did not. I often at times like to study the scene and what is going on and then setup at various angles and positions taking a wide variety of shots. This was a holy smokes!!! Just shoot! Here is what was captured….

Christmas Lights

Today’s photo – Christmas Lights
While shooting with my buddy Jeremi we came across this great scene. So as I shot this he decided to shoot this happy couple on their two week anniversary…now one part of me says – wait he was shooting something that can make him money and I shot only this…but then I look at it and think – I hope someone buys this to hand on their wall 🙂

I think that this one looks so much better than than the Nations tree in Washington which I got to see while traveling as well. Thoughts?

City of Dayton at Night

New style
I am hoping to revamp the site with a new style, I apologize in advance if I muck it all up 😀
If you check in and notice that things have switched around, dont get used it! I might switch it 10 times before finding a good one that I like…

After shooting what seemed like an eternity of a wedding with my buddy Jeremi we both came to unwind and pack gear up, download photos etc. We were shooting a top a great place in Dayton Ohio The Racquet Club. This place is awesome on all sorts of levels ans has probably the best view of the city. This was the first time that I had been up there. We put all of our gear in a room that was awesome in itself, but the view of the city was awesome. So we killed the lights, and setup the tripods after getting all of our gear back out again…this is one that I came up with.

Prop and all

Well, by now you know that I not only like military type subjects by have a strong love of aviation. The weird thing is – I hate to fly – mostly because I am not in control if I am the pilot all is well. While shooting at the Air Force Museum in Dayton Ohio again I came across this quite lovely piece of history. The more I looked at it, the more interesting it became. I dont always walk up and just shoot, a lot of times I find a subject and become intwined in it and I might shoot it from many different angles. This one I remember vividly I was looking at it, moving around watching the sun etc all the while my good friend Jeremi was talking to me and probably thinking – would sit still for one second and look at me while I am talking? I joke, but I know this is not the case, Jeremi and I have a keen sense of each other while shooting and also just in general – we know how to take each other in context and also know that we will debate to the death and still be friends when it is all said and done. Not only that but we also have wise crack competitions every time we get out to shoot at each others expense – quite fun. Funny thing is – after the last plane I posted, I SWORE to myself that I was not going to post another plane photo for a long while – jokes on me…

The greatest is love…

There have been many song written about it, many poems, many cards. However nothing comes close to capturing it like this verse – 1 Cor 13

The picture is using a King James version however I like the way the NIV reads for this particular verse.

1 Corinthians 13

1 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Who can name this plane?

I usually shoot more inside at the Air Force Museum, however there are some exhibits outside that are equally interesting. This is one of them. Who can name this plane?

What’s left after War

The reality of war is not pleasant. To those that have served – thank you. To those that are going to serve – thank you. This is a very sad view of what war does and what is left over when everything is said and done. This scene is located that the Museum of the United States Air Force is Dayton Ohio. I remember going there and looking at this scene and not being able to setup and shoot because of the reality of it. It was very sad to think about this little boy approaching two soldiers. Anyways – here is the shot – enjoy.

Full View

Well, this is my first attempt at anything like this. It is a Panorama from the Nation Museum of the USAF in Dayton Ohio. I went shooting with my friend and while there we were shooting a bunch of interesting things. We both were tired, spent about 3 hours in one little section but I wanted to go look at one thing before we left. So we packed up our gear and walked to very back and ended up on the observation deck where I said “man, a pano from here would look awesome”. HE agreed and said try it – where I was reluctant as I have never tried one – but with his encouraging words (and by that I mean we had a typical your a sissy man if you dont try it conversation) I decided to try it as did he. We both came up with almost the same image and it has become one of my favorites.

Stare Down

Here is one of the most recent that I shot at the National Museum of the USAF in Dayton Ohio. A friend and I went out to shoot and we had a little under 2 hours. It was the Friday before Christmas and cold so we decided to go inside where it was warm. It is always a great fun time to shoot with Jeremi as him and bust on each other all day and laugh at generally stupid stuff.

There is something to be said for stare downs. Intimidation is something that can be very powerful. This is the last start down that I had – I was not intimidated at all…
